What We Collect
ProofOF stores the data you enter on your device first: item names, retailers, purchase dates, prices, serial numbers, receipt photos, notes, and the deadlines we track for you. If you sign in and enable sync, encrypted copies are stored on the sync server so they can be restored or shared across your own devices.
End-to-end encryption
Receipt photos, item names, retailers, prices, serial numbers, notes, and barcodes are encrypted on your device before they leave it. Only devices you explicitly pair can decrypt them — not ProofOF, not the server host, not backups. Deadline dates (return-by, warranty-ends) stay readable on the server so reminders and scheduling keep working, but they reveal nothing about what the item is or where it was bought.
Recovery and pairing
New devices join by scanning a pairing code from a device you already own, or by entering the recovery phrase you set. We never see your phrase and cannot reset it. If you lose all your paired devices without a recovery phrase, your synced data — saved receipts, items, and all deadlines — cannot be recovered by anyone, including us.
How It's Used
Your data is used only to provide the service: showing countdowns, displaying your digital receipt barcode, and sending reminders at 30, 15, 7, and 1 days before each deadline. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising or analytics.
Local First
Until you sign in and turn on sync, everything stays in the local database on this device. Deleting the app or the item removes it locally. Signed-in users can delete their account and server-side copies at any time.
Permissions
Camera access is used to photograph receipts and scan barcodes. Notification permission is requested the moment you confirm your first item — never upfront. If you decline, reminders simply won't fire; you can grant it later in Settings. You can revoke camera or notification access in your device settings at any time.
Delete your account
You can delete your account and server-side data at any time. In the app: Settings → Delete account. Or use the account deletion page (also available on the backend page).
